Two more goals hit, Crowd Scene Progress, and more!

Hooray! With just under 30 hours of the campaign left,we've hit two more stretch goals. New bonus comics will now be added to every version of the book, featuring the first ever Baker/President Dog team-up, and the reappearance of Chompy the Dino Cat!

We're getting very close to adding a third bonus comic and a very special foreword, too! And should we be so lucky, I've added one more goal to the list... adding more illustrations to the book, including a full page one at the start of each chapter! I think this would be a really fun addition to the book if we were able to pull it off.

Crowd Scene Progress

I'll be adding one more batch to the crowd in that blank area up top... so if you'd like to suggest a critter to include, there's still time to do so in the comments here!

If anyone is interested, once this page is complete, I'll be selling the original 11x14 artwork for $350. (The first page of the crowd scene has already been scooped up by another backer, so it's not available.) If you're interested, and would like to get it via the Kickstarter campaign so that it contributes to our stretch goals, just send me a message!

Extra Mini Print Added to Gilded Pack! (Plus: More Stretch Goals & Commission Previews!)

We did it! Two more stretch goals have been hit!Luxurious Spot Gloss will be added to all our book covers, and a third mini print will now be added to every Gilded Pack! (I'm still working on the second half of the crowd scene print... comment on our previous update if you'd like to suggest a critter to include in the crowd!)

With a bit over two days left on the clock, I've expanded our Stretch Goal list to include two more possible bonus additions to the book: a third bonus comic (starring SPACE WIZARD BAKER), and a special foreword written by celebrity cartoon pets Garfeld and Snopy(TM). (I can't believe the Garfeld and Snopy are potentially willing to appear in my book. What an honour!) Cross your fingers, team!

 Art Commissions

With the end of the campaign so close, I thought I'd share a few more art commission examples to help out anyone who was considering nabbing one!

I also thought I'd mention: while most of our rewards ship in the fall, I can have any art commissions finished by as early as July 15th if you need it earlier. (Like, if you are wanting to give it to someone as a birthday present and their birthday is in late July or August!)

As for what kind of commissions I can do, well... lots!

Given that this is a pet-themed book, I figured a lot of folks might be interested in getting pet portraits. I always have fun with these! Some people get relatively traditional portraits, while others want to see their pets doing particular things or wearing fun costumes. It's all good with me... all I need is a decent photo reference of each pet! (And no, they don't have to all be in the same photo at the same time. That can be hard to orchestrate, haha!)

But, as folks familiar with my work probably know, I can also draw plenty of other things! In previous Kickstarters, I've done a lot of pieces of Sam and Fuzzy characters in various kinds of cosplay. And as some of my Patreon supporters will know, I also draw a fair amount of fan art and cheeky pin-up style pieces. And of course, I can also draw cartoony pictures of real people, if you're looking to get a drawing of yourself or any of your friends/family/enemies.

If you've got something particular in mind that you don't think fits into any of these categories, that's probably fine, too! But feel free send me a message if you want to ask and make sure! As long as it isn't disturbingly violent or cruel, it should be ok. (And I don't think anyone is looking for that kind of stuff from me, haha!)

Goal Hit: Double-sized crowd scene!

Our first stretch goal has been hit! That means I'll be adding a full second page to President Dog's audience, packed full of critters! The finished piece will be a double-page spread in the book. (And, if we hit our 19k goal, an extra print in every gilded pack.)

As with the first page, I'm looking for suggestions for potential audience members... either particular types/breeds of pet, or particular costumes for some of 'em to be wearing. I encourage all our backers to make suggestions in the comments to this post! (But I'll prioritize suggestions from folks who didn't get one in on the first page.)

And with that, we're already well on our way to our next goal... spot gloss for our covers. Woo!

Stretch Goals, and more Comic Previews!

Hi everyone! As I type this, there are a bit more than five days left of the VOTE DOG Kickstarter campaign, and we're already more than 2/3rds of the way to our first stretch goal! Folks have been asking what other kinds of things I'd like to do if we raise enough funding. So here's my gameplan!

I wasn't originally going to have a 19k goal, but I think a lot of backers would enjoy having a little print of the full President Dog crowd scene, particularly when so many of the audience members were suggested by you. So... I just put it on the chart. No one can stop me!

The 20 and 21k bonus comic goals, though, are something I've been hoping to do for a while now! I realized as I was assembling the book in InDesign that Baker and President Dog, despite appearing together in a few illustrations, have never actually met in a comic and deserving an epic team-up. (If any time was the right time, it's now!) And Chompy, as Sam and Fuzzy readers will know, is a character I created a long, long, time ago. I haven't drawn him in years, but he's one of my oldest pet characters, and I think it would be sweet to find a place for him in this book!

Whatever amount we raise, I'm gonna make the best book I can. We'll see how the rest of the campaign goes!

Dobot and The Air Baker Trilogy

It's been a while since I posted preview comics here. So here's a few new ones!

Dobot is one of the new characters I created just for VOTE DOG! I'm very fond of her. She appears in a couple other comics in the book as well. She's a very good dog.

 Air Baker started as a riff on the timeless classic, Air Bud. But, much like the actual Air Bud franchise, it quickly spawned a series of increasingly absurd sequels.

We're Funded! (And Bumper Sticker Add-Ons)

We did it! As of today, our project is funded, with one week left to go on the Kickstarter clock! President Dog thanks you for your support.

And so do I! I am super excited to get these books in your hands. And with a week left to raise additional funs, I think we've got a shot at doing some cool stretch goal enhancements to make the books you're getting even better! (We're less than $1500 away from expanding the backer-suggested critter crowd scene, and less than $2500 from enhancing all our covers with sweet, sweet spot gloss. And I've got some other fun ideas, should we be so lucky...)

Bumper Sticker Add-Ons

Because a few people have asked, I've added one more of my existing products to our selection of optional add-ons... VOTE DOG Bumper Stickers! (Makes sense, doesn't it?)

You can get an individual sticker for $4, or a pack of 3 for $10. There is no additional shipping cost for international folks with these, since they weigh so little!

If you'd like to get any of our add-ons, just take the total value of all the add-on items you'd like to get, and add it on top of you existing pledge! (For example, if you've currently pledged $24 for the Softcover Edition tier, and want to get a $4 bumper sticker, you'd increase your pledge to $28!) Once the campaign is over, we'll send you a survey where you can tell us which specific add-ons were the ones you wanted. If you've got any questions, just drop me a line and let me know!
